The Jar of Life – A Story About Time That Ticks Louder Than Words
One morning, a wise teacher entered the classroom with a large glass jar. He placed it on the table and said,
TEACHER : “Today, I’ll show you how time works — not with a clock, but with a jar.”
He dropped in big rocks — one by one. “Is it full?” he asked.
STUDENTS : The students nodded. “Yes, sir!”
TEACHER : Then he poured in pebbles. They rolled into the gaps. “Full now?”
STUDENTS : “Definitely!”
TEACHER : Next came sand, slipping into every crevice. “Surely full now?”
STUDENTS : “Yes!”
TEACHER : Finally, he poured water, and it soaked through the sand.
Then he smiled and said:
“This jar is your life. The rocks are your priorities — health, family, dreams. The pebbles are your tasks — work, school, chores. The sand is the noise — scrolling, gossip, distractions. The water is what you waste when you forget what matters.”
He paused.
“If you fill the jar with sand first, there’s no room for the rocks.”
MORAL :
"Time is a jar, not a stream,
Fill it with purpose, not just a dream.
Start with the rocks, the things that last,
Or life will slip by, rushing too fast."
